Springhill Church exists:
That all may come to know and enjoy God, His world and each other through Jesus Christ.
This statement helps give shape and direction to all of our ministries here and keeps us from getting lost in “busy-ness”. Let’s break it down a little:
“all” – We believe that the Good News of Jesus Christ is for all people everywhere regardless of their past choices, current situation or ethnic or geographical background. So, this gives shape to our Missions ministries (local, national and global missions). We will consistently take the Gospel with us wherever we go; into every place and group of people.
“know and enjoy God” –We want all people to come to know and enjoy God by having a deep and growing relationship with Him. We emphasize that this happens only through Jesus Christ as He is offered to us in the Scriptures. The life of our church revolves around: The Tri-une God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), Scripture, the Gospel, worship, evangelism (loving outreach to friends and neighbors who don’t yet know Him) and discipleship (growing in our faith).
“know and enjoy His world” – His world includes two parts: Nature and Culture. We celebrate, enjoy and participate in God’s good creation in nature (outdoor activity, fishing, hiking, etc.). And some of our ministries will incorporate this. We also celebrate, enjoy and engage in every aspect of culture in order to bring renewal (the arts, athletics, business, etc.). God has given us these to enjoy and use for His glory.
“know and enjoy each other” – This includes our body life together. Relationships are key at Springhill Church. We seek to be a warm, welcoming and generous community. We enjoy and come to know one another through fellowship, serving together, generosity toward the poor/lonely/hurting, pastoral care, and friendship.
“through Jesus Christ” – He is the Head of our church and of THE Church, and we seek to honor Him in all we do. “For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever!” Romans 11:36
So there it is! I encourage you to read it again and reflect on which part of it speaks most to you. Where do your gifts and passions fit? Let’s let nothing deter, discourage or distract us from our purpose: That all may come to know and enjoy God, His world and each other through Jesus Christ! May God help us fulfill it for His glory!!!
