What Is Worship Arts?
The most visible part, of course, is what we all see on Sunday morning or at special events. Musicians on stage, offering their gifts of music. The pastor taking the pulpit and delivering the Word. Built and painted sets for the Christmas play.
But there are a lot of parts to the Worship Arts Ministry that you may not know about. Did you know, for instance, that it takes roughly twenty-two people to pull off one Emerson worship service every week? And that's not including the fourteen Sunday School teachers we need. Church in a box is always a challenge, and it's no secret that we need more people. I hope that if God has been working in your heart about getting more involved, you'll consider coming forward to help with this exciting ministry.
CURRENT NEEDS:
If you really like people, consider joining our usher/greeter ministry. If you can give up one hour, once a month, you could help us with set-up or tear down. If you love to arrange decorations, you could help us with Communion or Stage setup, especially for special events. If you are technologically savvy, we run all the communications, podcasts, vlogs, and social media, including recording and posting sermons. If you know how to run a computer, we can use you!
If you are musically inclined, we are always in need of guitarists, pianists, drummers, singers, instrumentalists. Of course, it looks like we have our bases covered every week, but our goal is to incorporate as many gifts as possible, so we would love to have more people doing fewer services rather than fewer doing more. Many hands make light work? Well, many musicians make great music. Come to our JAM SESSION on October 18th at 6:00 pm at Springhill Church (9855 Walker Road). Bring your instruments and your voices. All are welcome!
If you are artistic or dramatic, we're currently setting up plans for the Children's Christmas play. We have lots of needs in drama, costumes, production, props and staging, and music. Our next meeting is October 12th at the Downtown Offices (7 W. Main St., #205) at noon. Please come if you are interested. We're also putting together the production lists for Christmas Eve services and Advent.

Bottom line, if you want to worship God, then Worship Arts is the ministry for you. It's so much more than just the hour you see on Sunday morning. It's complex and diverse, and it's needy! :) Worship Arts needs you. I guarantee you, if you have a willing heart, we have a place you can serve. Please contact Becca (beccas@springhillpres.com or 582-8000). I would love to serve God alongside you. Call or email anytime!
